About the initiative

Opening doors in the tech world using e-commerce

Inequalities in the marketplace impact a large portion of the younger generation in Latin America. A great number of young people aged 18-29 years are neither working not studying. Specifically, job openings in demand in the tech industry are hard to fill because of the shortage of special training courses. We want to help unlock the creative and entrepreneurial potential of this generation. That is why we have created and funded programs aimed at bringing young people closer to tech world positions, making it easier for them to reach the knowledge economy sector.

How it works

We have partnered with Taqe to implement the program in Brazil, with the goal of training young people in the digital economy sector. The program is also designed to connect students with SMEs that sell on Mercado Libre and want to have customer reviews on their online selling strategies. The content covers the most pressing demands from Mercado Libre’s ecosystem, such as listing creation and posting; leads management; and sales, negotiation and video creation techniques. Taqe trains young people making online classes and tests available on a gaming platform, and then recommends them job openings according to their profiles.
